자산빈곤과 빈곤지속 = Asset Poverty and Poverty Persistence

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study, using the data from the first four waves KOWEPS(Korea Welfare Panel Study), were to review the dynamic characteristics and examine cause of the asset poverty through dynamic random effects probit model. The results of this study were as follow: First, the asset inequality between income classes has increased substantially over time. Second, the asset poverty rate is, on average, from two to three times higher than the income poverty rate. Third, the asset poverty is much more persistent than the income poverty. Fourth, the income poor households are more likely to fall into the asset poor households, and these households`` financial situations are in worse state than those in the non-poor households. It showed that social policy should focus not only on income-based policies but on asset-based polices as well.
