바람직한 현대 교사상 탐색을 위한 귀납적 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 학생들의 경험을 바탕으로 바람직한 현대 교사상을 도출하는 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 교직과정을 이수하고 있는 대학생 20명을 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 학생들은 "인간적으로 대우해 주는 선생님", "박식하고 수업을 잘 이끌어 주는 선생님", "사랑이 있는 선생님", "철학이나 신념이 있는 선생님", "지도력 있는 선생님", "정의감 있고 공평한 선생님", "마음이 넓은 선생님" 등을 이상적인 교사상으로 보고 있음이 드러났다.
학생들이 생각하는 교사상에 관한 본 연구에서는, 학생들은 단지 지식을 갖춘 교사를 원하는 것이 아니라, 감성과 인성을 함께 갖춘 전인(全人)으로서의 교사를 원하고 있음이 드러났고, 또한 학생들은 교사를 단순히 ‘학교에서의 선생님’으로 보기보다는 ‘삶의 스승’으로 보려고 하는 성향을 가지고 있음을 보여 주었다.
이러한 연구 결과는, 우리나라에서 교사상에 대한 체계적인 관심과 노력이 필요하다는 점, 교원 양성 및 임용 과정에서 교원의 성품이나 인격에 대한 교육 및 검증이 필요하다는 점, 그리고 교원 현직교육에서도 지식이나 기법 차원에 머무르지 말고 정신적인 측면에서의 성장, 발달을 도모할 수 있는 프로그램도 마련해야 한다는 점 등의 시사를 주고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the desired image of ontemporary teachers. For that purpose, 20 university students were interviewed deeply, who are participating in pre-service teacher education program.
The results of this research were as followings. Students have 7 images on the ideal teacher type such as "teachers who treat students humanly", "teachers who have much knowledge and teach well", "teachers who love students", "teachers who have their philosophy and belief", "teachers who have leadership", "teachers who have the sense of justice and fairness", and "teachers who are broad minded".
From the results of this research, we conclude that students want their teachers to have not only intelligence, but also sensitivity and humanism, which means that students regard a teacher as the whole man. Students also want their teacher to be not "a school teacher", but "a life guider".
This study suggests some hints for the teacher education practice. 1) We have to explore the ideal image of Korean teachers systematically. 2) We need to verify and train the pre-service teachers' disposition and character as a teacher. 3) We should make an effort to enhance not only teachers' knowledge and methods, but also teachers' emotional qualities through in-service teacher education program.
