청소년기 애착이 진로성숙도와 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향: 빈곤 조절효과를 중심으로 = The Influence of Attachment on Career Maturity and Career Preparation Behavior: Focusing on Moderating Effects of Poverty

Planning and preparing for career is one of the most important developmental tasks for adolescents. This study explored the contribution of attachment to career maturity and career preparation behavior in adolescence, and moderating effects of poverty. This study utilized the 1st and 4th waves of data from Korea Youth Panel Survey administered by National Youth Policy Institute. The sample from 1st wave(the 2nd grade in middle school) were 3,449 and that from 4th wave(the 2nd grade in high school) were 3,121. The results of this study were as follows. First, parental attachment influenced career maturity and career preparation behavior in both 1st and 4th waves. Second, the type of attachment which affected career maturity and career preparation behavior, appeared to differ in grade. In the case of career maturity, parental and peer attachment had significant positive effects in both 1st and 4th waves; and teacher attachment appeared to have a negative effect in 4th wave. In the case of the career preparation behavior, parental attachment in both 1st and 4th waves; and teacher attachment in 4th wave appeared to have positive effects. Finally, as a result of examining the difference between poor and non-poor adolescents with respect to effect of attachment on career maturity and career preparation behavior, poverty had a moderating role in 1st wave, but not in 4th wave. For the non-poor adolescents, as they developed more secure attachment to parents, career maturity and career preparation behavior were likely to be dramatically increased. For the poor adolescents, on the other hand, the increases of career maturity and career preparation behavior were not significant regardless of security of attachment to parents. Finally, the implications for youth welfare practice were discussed based upon the results of this study.
