한국 농촌의 범죄다발지역과 범죄발생의 결정요인 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국 농촌의 범죄다발지역과 범죄발생 요인을 실증분석 하였다. 범죄다발지역은 중범죄에 속하는 5대 범죄유형별로 범죄 입지 계수를 활용하여 분석하였다. 범죄발생은 공간적 상관성을 지니므로, 이에 적합한 분석방법인 공간계량경제모형을 이용하여 지리적, 사회·경제적 변인뿐만 아니라 공간계획적 변인을 포함해서 범죄발생의 결정요인을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 범죄유형별로 선제적인 범죄예방조치가 필요한 지역은 상이하게 나타난 가운데, 전라도와 경기도에 있는 농촌지역에서 범죄다발지역이 많이 분포하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 범죄발생에 미치는 요인은 사회·경제적 변인과 공간계획적 변인이 통계적 유의성을 지닌 것으로 나타난 가운데, 고학력 인구, 1인당 지방세, 농업종사자수, 경찰수, 토지용도혼합도는 농촌지역 범죄 발생에 부(-)의 영향을 미친 반면, 기초생활수급자수와 주거지집중도는 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 농촌지역의 범죄예방은 범죄다발지역을 중심으로 이루어져야 함은 자명하다. 그리고 본 연구를 통해 우리나라 농촌지역의 범죄는 공간계획적 요소와 밀접한 연관성을 맺고 있다는 사실을 확인한 만큼, 향후 공간계획적 측면에서 농촌지역의 범죄예방을 위한 노력을 경주할 필요가 있다. 적정 수준의 주거지 집중도를 유지하고, 토지의 용도혼합화를 꾀하는 것이 농촌지역의 범죄를 예방하는 데 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study aims to figure out crime-prone areas and investigate crime determinants in rural areas. The crime-prone areas are identified by estimating location quotients of crime of five major crimes. To investigate crime determinants, spatial econometrics models are utilized based on the assumption that crime areas are spatially auto-correlated. The independent variables are drawn from the characteristics of three perspectives; geographic, socioeconomic and spatial planning. We found that the crime hot spots appear differently dependent upon the crime types. Crime hot spots are heavily distributed in rural areas of Gyunggi-do and Jeolla-do. We also found that the socioeconomic and spatial planning variables are statistically significant; highly educated population, local tax, farming population, policemen and mixed land use negatively impacted crime rates, while low-income population and residential concentration have positive effects on crime incidence in rural areas. The present study colcludes with some discussion regarding the policy implications to prevent crimes from rural areas.
