레크리에이션 전문화에 따른 참여동기, 환경친화적 태도 및 행동의도의 이해 = Understanding Trekkers’ Motivations, Pro-environmental Attitudes and Behavioral Intention by Recreation Specialization : A Case of Trekkers in Geumoh Island

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 레크리에이션 전문화에 따른 트레킹 참여자의 환경친화적 태도 및 행동의도 차이를 분석함으로써 레크리에이션 전문화와 환경친화적 행동 특성의 관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 최근 트레킹 관광지로 주목받고 있는 전남 여수시 금오도 트레킹 관광객을 대상으로 레크리에이션 전문화 정도에 따라 일반적 참여자와 활동적 참여자로 구분하여 분석하였다. 첫째, 레크리에이션 전문화에 따른 트레킹 관광객의 참여동기 차이를 분석한 결과 상대적으로 전문화 수준이 낮은 일반적 참여자의 경우 자연추구 동기, 휴식동기, 학습 동기 순으로 중요도를 나타냈고, 활동적 참여자는 학습 동기, 휴식 동기, 자연추구 동기 순이었다. 둘째, 레크리에이션 전문화가 높을수록 트레킹 관광객의 환경친화적 태도가 높았다. 셋째, 레크리에이션 전문화가 높을수록 트레킹 관광객의 환경친화적 관광행동의도가 높았다. 넷째, 레크리에이션 전문화 따른 트레킹 관광객의 일반적인 환경친화적 행동의도는 측정에 사용된 3개요인 구매의도, 처분의도, 사용의도 중 구매의도에서만 유의한 차이를 보였다. 본 연구는 레크리에이션 전문화에 대한 연구를 트레킹 활동으로 넓혔으며, 연구의 결과를 통해 레크리에이션 전문화에 따른 생태지향주의적 환경관 함양 등 교육적 효과를 시사함으로써 환경친화적 레크리에이션 활동의 활성화 근거로 제시하였다. 또한 트레킹 참여자의 전문화수준에 따른 환경친화적 특성을 분석하여 사회경제적 특성, 참여동기 등을 파악함으로써 관련 정책 및 프로그램 개발 등에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study intended to examine the differences of environment-friendly attitudes and behavioral intention of trekking tourists by the level of recreation specialization. The sample was tourists who visited Geumoh Island as a popular trekking destination. Trekking visitors were classified into two groups, namely casual and active participants, based on the level of recreation specialization. Study results showed that there were differences in motivations of trekking tourists in accordance with the theory of recreation specialization. Casual participants pursued motivations such as return to nature, escape, knowledge, but active participants seek to experience knowledge, escape, return to nature as their main motivations. Also, study results indicated that active participants had more environment friendly attitudes and behavioral intention than casual participants. Similarly, a difference was detected in one factor of behavioral intention, purchasing, meaning that active participants were more likely to pursue environment friendly consumption behavior than casual participants. These results may mean that participating in nature-based tourism activities such as trekking is needed to encourage individuals environmental awareness.
Study findings will also help improve environmental policy and programs related to trekking tourism by understanding socioeconomic characteristics and motivations based on the level of recreation specialization of trekking participants.
