This study intended to determine how much self-control intervention with photographic clues may have effects on mentally retarded Middle school student's achievement percentage for using public bus independently. This study sampled three moderately mentally retarded girls aged between12-13 years.
In terms of photographic clues f3r mentally retarded student's performance with 10 subdivided tasks for independent use of public bus, certain pictures about daily lift-training as contained in a CD titled 'The Tutorial for Instructors in Special Schools about Therapeutic Education and Activities (Ministry of Education, 2000)' were adapted, complemented and devised to meet the cognitive and behavioral level of sampled students, who were trained to learn the pictures as adopted.
During 8 months, this experiment was applied to each of three students once a week (50minutes per session, total 27 times). In addition, whole experimental period was subdivided into three steps such as initial setting, experimental intervention and maintenance. Summing up, this study came to the following conclusions: First, in the course of self-control intervention with photographic clues, all mentally retarded girls achieved 10 subdivided tasks hereof independently with regard to their use of public vehicles. Secondly, even after self-control intervention with photographic clues, all of them kept achieving the 10 tasks hereof at relatively constant levels with regard to using public vehicles as learned.
