LiDAR sensors are a technology that measures distance using lasers. Until recently, the limited application of LiDAR sensors was due to their high cost and large size. However, advances in technology and increased productivity have made it possible to make LiDAR sensors more widely available. LiDAR sensors can detect surrounding objects, terrain, and other structures to collect spatial information about the environment. This information can be used to create a 3D map or to recognize the position, size, and shape of objects for 3D modeling. Due to the real-time scanning of objects, the amount of input data generated by LiDAR is enormous. This can lead to a bottleneck problem in processing large amounts of real-time data in systems that use LiDAR. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a compression technique that can quickly process massive point clouds using an edge computing server. Multiple LiDAR sensors are required to scan wide areas in real-time. Therefore, to detect objects in real-time, multiple LiDAR sensor data must be processed simultaneously. To solve the bottleneck problem that may occur in this case, the point cloud is efficiently compressed on the edge computer to perform data acceleration, and all data is compressed in real-time on the main cloud to enable it to be used. As a result, users can control LiDAR sensors through a central system without the data bottleneck problem that was present in traditional cloud-based systems.
