This study charts the development of a creative thinking program for young children tied to science curriculum and based on a confluence approach which describes creative thinking as a complex interaction of multiple factors thereby emphasizing the processes of creative thinking rather than its results. Program development proceeded according to the following steps: 1) review of the literature to develop a sound rationale 2) a preliminary program of 28 scientific activities to be administered over a period of 8 weeks was designed for 26 children aged 5-6 in a child care center 3) During the administration of the program, the children`s creative thinking processes were noted and recorded. In the 4th step, analysis of the observation data revealed the most important factors for advancing creative thinking in young children in this setting to be an atmosphere which promotes self motivation and leading activity, adequate interaction of teacher with respect to their questions and responses to children, new materials and situations which evoke the children`s interest and curiosity, and opportunity for repeated and long enough time experience. The final step of the study involved supplementing and correcting the preliminary program and developing a creative thinking program for young children through scientific activities.
