Four Pillars, also known as Saju (四柱), refers to the method of predicting the fortunes and misfortunes of individuals by analyzing the year (年), month (月), day (日), and time (時) based on the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, also known as Gan-Zhi(干支). Feng Shui, on the other hand, systematizes the nature of the earth based on the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, explaining fortunes and misfortunes. Despite sharing common ground in predicting the ups and downs of human life, the correlation between Feng Shui and Four Pillars has often been overlooked.
This study aims to elucidate the relationship and correlation between Feng Shui and Four Pillars of Destiny. The theoretical basis and reasoning are derived from the core logic of the Book of Changes(『周易』), also knows as I ching. The Book of Changes revolves around the organic natural order of all things, including human existence, and their dynamic changes.
Feng Shui and Four Pillars of Destiny are interrelated disciplines that involve the correlation between heaven, earth, and humanity (天地人). The triad of heaven, earth, and humanity exhibits a reciprocal relationship, and humans, as subjects, have a correlation with the natural world and its changing phenomena. The theoretical origins of Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics lie in the harmonious interaction of Yin and Yang, the Generating and Controlling Relationships of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches and the Generating and Controlling Relationships of the six kin that is changed from the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, and the cycle principles of the Five Elements. The correlation between the theories of Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics has been confirmed through practical examples that demonstrate the integration of theory and real-life consultations. Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics not only serve as tools for discovering the most beautiful dreams of one's destiny but also as instruments and materials for self-creation. Moreover, the relationship between Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics is a integration of interconnectedness and correlation.
