      The purpose of university education should be that for whole person. However many of universities in Korea have become more inclined to focus on practical issues such as training for job placement rather than the education for whole person. It is the mission of times that Christian university should recover it’s original spirit and passion for the whole person education. The most effective instrument which can transform the individual members of the university into the leaders who has self awareness of the right vision and direction of Christian university is the paradigm shift of leadership. New leadership paradigm should have a strong influence that can transform university members into faithful servants who are willing to serve for the transformation of university.
      In this research paper the servant leadership is suggested as a new leadership paradigm as the most effective instrument for the transformation of Christian University. Since servant leadership values a person above everything else, it’s core element is the spirit of service based on agape(love) run by self motivated leadership. It is the power source of servant leadership which changes a person and an atmosphere of university. The structure of traditional leadership has the shape of pyramid which has the top-down direction with the implication of rule and control. However Servant leadership has the shape of inverted pyramid structure which has the bottom-up direction with the implication of service and support for members(faculty, staffs, students and their family) because CEO and leaders are placed on the bottom of the inverted pyramid while staffs and members are placed on the top of the structure.
      The final goal of the inverted structure is to regain the original spirit of identity and mission of university by serving members to be transformed into servant leaders. Therefore servant leadership is distinguished from power leadership which values powerful drive force for radical reformation. Servant leadership values a power of servantship based on Christian agape for gradual transformation of people in an organization. Thus Servant leadership is suggested in this paper as the most effective leadership paradigm based which has a powerful drive force for gradual transformation of Christian university. As a result in this paper, servant leadership is recommended as an effective instrument for keeping Christian university from the tide of secularization in the contemporary society.
