고등학생의 완벽주의 성향과 진로미결정의 관계에서 자아핸디캡전략의 매개효과 = The Effect of self-handicapping strategy the relationship between perfectinism and career indecision

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated not only the relationship among perfectionism, self-handicapping strategy and career indecision but also the function of self-handicapping strategy on two variables. Total of 280 high school students(male: 166, female: 114) on the basis of the data of self-report questionnaires. Correlation, MANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analyses were used to examine the relationships and differences among variables and the mediated effect of self-handicapping strategy. The study revealed the following results. The correlational analysis showed that self-handicapping strategy associated positively with career indecision, and socially-prescribed perfectionism positively with self-handicapping strategy and career indecision, too. This result meaned that the more self-handicapping strategy and socially-prescribed perfectionism the higher career indecision. There were significant differences in self-handicapping strategy and career indecision according to the level of socially-prescribed perfectionism. That is to say, participants perceived more socially-prescribed perfectionism had more career indecision and self-handicapping strategy than comparative groups. The multiple regression analyses indicated that self-handicapping strategy total mediated the relationship between socially-prescribed perfectionism and career indecision. The results supported that self-handicapping strategy reacted on the career decision-making, as a negative motivational strategy. The results suggested that socially-prescribed perfectionism endorsed negative career development. As a result, the mediating effect of self-handicapping strategy was confirmed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 고등학생들이 지각하는 자신의 완벽주의 성향(자기지향적, 타인지향적, 사회부과적 완벽주의)과 자아핸디캡전략, 진로미결정의 관계를 분석하면서, 자아핸디캡전략의 매개효과를 분석하고 있다. 여기에서 분석된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구변인들 간 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 완벽주의 성향 중 사회부과적 완벽주의는 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 보임으로써 사회부과적 완벽주의 성향이 많을수록 자아핸디캡전략을 많이 사용하고 있으며 진로미결정 수준도 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 완벽주의 성향 수준에 따른 자아핸디캡전략과 진로미결정의 차이를 검증한 결과, 타인지향적 완벽주의 성향이 높은 집단과 낮은 집단 간 진로미결정 수준에 유의미한 차이가 검증되었으며, 사회부과적 완벽주의 수준 간 자아핸디캡전략 및 진로미결정 수준에서 유의미한 차이를 보이고 있다. 셋째, Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증 절차에 따라 고등학생의 완벽주의 성향과 진로미결정 간 관계에서 자아핸디캡전략을 매개로 하였을 때 고등학생의 사회부과적 완벽주의 성향은 진로미결정에 유의미한 영향이 사라지고, 자아핸디캡전략의 영향력은 상당히 증가함으로써 완전매개효과를 나타냈다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 고등학생의 진로미결정을 해결하기 위해서는 개인의 역기능적 인성 특성과 인지적 특성의 구체화 작업이 필요함을 제안하고 있다.
