      A Study on the Greening Convergence Improvement Design of Residential Area in Southwest China

      In the context of the vast size of China, its diverse climate, the lack of implementation of mandatory standards, and the variability in greening effectiveness. This study hopes to assess the types of greenery and satisfaction of residents in residential areas, and thus provide suggestions for further improvements in greening effectiveness.
      This study investigates the evaluation of greening systems, satisfaction, and desired greening species by residents of residential areas in southwest China. It was concluded that there is still room for improvement in the greening system of residential areas in southwest China. Therefore, this thesis was conducted to address the current situation of greening in residential areas, to present the problem of satisfaction with greening in residential areas in southwest China, and to seek improvements in greening design. Based on a survey of greening design and residents' satisfaction with greening in residential areas of three representative cities in southwest China, as well as the greening species that residential area residents would most like to see added, using factor analysis, t-test, F-test, and also importance-satisfaction analysis, this paper analyzes the satisfaction and importance of aesthetics, environmental coordination, and plants in residential areas of three cities with different climates in southwest China The paper also proposes the improvement plan of greenery in urban residential areas in southwest China.
      The findings and contents of the study are as follows. Firstly, residents in southwest China have different plant preferences, but in general, they all want to add flowering and scented plants to their residential areas; secondly, the selection of plants in southwest cities also differs, and southwest regions are different due to geography, altitude, and climate.
      The most suitable plant selection also varies. Based on these research results, I expect the greening design of residential areas in southwest China to meet the expectations of most residents and to be more in line with the local environmental and climatic characteristics. This will create a more diverse and regionally distinctive green design for residential areas.
