다문화 사회에서 한국대학생과 중국대학생의 커뮤니케이션 불안과 갈등관리 유형 간의 관계에 대한 비교 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 다문화 경향이 나타나는 한국사회에서 한국대학생과 중국대학생의 문화 간 커뮤니케이션 불안과 문화 간 갈등관리 유형의 특징을 비교해 보고, 각 국가별로 두 변인 간의 관계를 살펴보고자 했다. 대구·경북 지역 소재 대학에서 한국대학생들과 중국유학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과 첫째, 기존 연구의 결과와 마찬가지로 높은 수준의 ICA가 문화 간 커뮤니케이션을 가로막는 장애임을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 동일한 문화권－집단적 고맥락 문화－내에서도 국가단위문화에 따라 선호하는 ICMS가 다르다는 사실을 발견했으며 셋째, 일반적인 기존 CA 연구 결과와는 달리 한국학생의 경우 높은 수준의 ICA는 상당히 긍정적인 역할을 하는 것과 중국학생의 경우는 기존 CA 연구 결과와 유사하게 매우 부정적인 효과를 나타내는 것을 밝혀냈다. 넷째, 한국학생들은 문화 간 갈등을 관리하는 데 있어서 협력적인 성향을 보인 반면, 중국학생들은 경쟁전략을 선호하는 경향이 있음을 발견했다. 결국, 본 연구는 ICA 수준이 ICMS의 유형을 결정하는 중요한 요소임을 밝혀냈다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study compared the characteristics of ICA and ICMS between Korean and Chinese college students by investigating the relationship between the two variables. This study performed a survey at several universities in Daegu and Kyungbook provinces with Korean and Chinese students. The results of this study were as follows. First, this study confirmed that high ICA works as an obstacle to block efficient communication. Second, there were differences in preferred ICMS depending upon country-level culture in the same cultural boundary--a collectivistic high-context culture. Third, high ICA played some positive roles for Korean students but worked fairly negatively for Chinese students. Fourth, while Korean students showed a positive tendency, Chinese students revealed a negative trend in managing intercultural conflict. Finally, this study disclosed the level of ICA is a crucial factor in determining the types of ICMS.
