Siaknon 詩樂論 and Ilmuron 佾舞論 discussed by Seo Myeong-eung 徐命膺, a Jiak jishin (music-understanding Subordinate, 知樂之臣) in the King Jeongjo 正祖 of the late Joseon period are the most core issue among the issues of the music theory by a Confucian scholar. The Siaknon by Seo Myeong-eung who mentioned this in the position of a key government official, was concentrated on traditional poems and music used in national rites (國家典禮), in other words, liturgical music (典禮音樂). The Ilmuron also was devoted on the fact of being Ilmu 佾舞 as ritual music and dance that belonged to auspicious ceremonies (吉禮) from among five ritual ceremonies (五禮). Therefore, the Siaknon and Ilmuron of Seo Myeong-eung were found to have a close relationship with discussions about music, song, and dance (樂ㆍ歌ㆍ舞) which had been used for national rites during the late Joseon period.
Seo Myeong-eung saw Ilmu that people danced between Dangsang (on the main floor of the royal palace, 堂上) and Dangha (under the main floor of the royal palace, 堂下) during religious rites, as the reflection of the ideology of three components (三才思想): heaven 天, earth 地, and man 人. This ideology was the view of the world by a Confucian scholar. Music performed during religious rites signifies performing music of universe in combination of the following three parties: Dangsangak 堂上樂 symbolizing heaven, Danghaak 堂下樂 symbolizing the earth, and Ilmu symbolizing man affairs (人事).
