    The vocabulary ability of young children is crucial variable to their later reading and academic abilities. Vocabulary ability is defined as words knowledge and skills to use them in the appropriate way. So special emphasis should be on vocabulary learning. However, many teachers don`t think that it is important and are remiss to teach the child words knowledge and skills. This paper was intended to search for an effective teaching method to increase young children`s vocabulary. For this, the paper first examined he concepts of vocabulary and vocabulary ability, he ways of vocabulary learning, and effective means of enhancing vocabulary learning. Most Researchers have found convincing evidences from their studies to support that there is no the best one way to increase their vocabulary. Such studies have shown that children learn words knowledge and skills to use them from the explicit instructions and incidental acquisitions from their listening and reading. So this paper proposed that children need to be instructed explicitly and incidentally to extend their vocabulary. They need to be instructed through diverse ways such as simple telling, massed drill, mnemonic use key-words, categorization exercises, listening to and reading stories, and dictionary tasks.
