The purpose of this study was to examine what factors could make a prediction of the career decision of secondary school students who had to make a crucial decision about their future and in which route the factors affected it. It`s ultimately attempted to help provide better career guidance and assist adolescents to make a discreet decision. The subjects in this study were secondary school boy and girl students in Masan, on whom a survey was conducted. The findings of the study were as follows: First, on lifetime goal, the middle school students aimed higher than the high school students did. Among the boys, the middle school students had their sight set higher than the high school students did. But in the case of the girls, there was little gap between the middle school and high school students. As for the self-efficacy of the boys, the middle school students excelled the high school students, but among the girls, there was little gap between the middle school and high school students. In terms of internal/external control, the middle school students outperformed the high school students, and regarding career decision level, the middle school students outdid the high school students, too. Second, in regard to interrelationship among the variables and what affected career decision level, there was a positive correlational relationship among all the lifetime goal, self-efficacy, internal/external control and career decision level in every group. The career decision level was under the effect of lifetime goal and self-efficacy, and the two variables had a positive effect on that. Third, after a research model was selected, path analysis was conducted to see how their lifetime goal, self-efficacy and internal/ external control affected their career decision level, and it`s found that lifetime goal exercised a significant effect on self-efficacy and internal/external control, and that it had a significant firsthand effect on career decision level. Self-efficacy had a significant effect on career decision level, but internal/external control exerted no significant effect on that. In conclusion, lifetime goal has a significant firsthand and secondhand effect on career decision level, as it contributed to improving career decision level directly or indirectly. Besides, self-efficacy also had a positive effect on that.
