1990년대 금융위기 이후의 한,일 금융감독기구개혁에 대한 비교분석 = Comparative Analysis on the Reform(s) of Korean and Japanese Financial Services Authorities after Financial Crisis in the 1990s

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Korean and Japanese governments promoted economic development through various regulations. Both governments recognized financial regulation as an important policy instrument. The governments achieved financial stability through financial regulations and facilitated stable supply of funding for industrialization through financial system induced around banking. But in the 90s, financial stability in both Korea and Japan was damaged as the financial institutions possessed significant amount of bad debts. Thus, in the context of overcoming the financial crisis and establishing systems to avoid recurrence of financial crisis, both governments engaged in the reform of financial services authorities. This study proposes, from the view point of path dependence, a comparative analysis on the reform of Korean and Japanese Financial Services Authorities. Both reforms of supervisory framework and oversight appear to follow reform styles of neo-liberalism. However, the reality of the reforms suggest the preservation of characteristics as developmental states. Furthermore, both reforms have many elements in common but differences also exist. In providing explanations on such similarities and differences, this study also focuses on variables such as political-administrative relations and government -business relationship.
