입양을 결정한 10대 미혼모 경험에 관한 사례연구 = A Case Study on the Experience of Teenaged Unmarried Mothers Deciding Adoption

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research was surveyed so as to accumulate fundamental data which were needed to solve effectively the problems of teenaged unmarried mothers. The interviewees for the research were those who abided in a shelter around Seoul for the unmarried mothers as of May, 2008. They were composed of ten unmarried mothers not only before their childbirth but also after their childbirth. As the method of the case study deep interviews were administered to come by qualitative data.
The main results of the research were as follows: first, according to the experience before their pregnance, unmarried mothers, even though they did not want babies, tended to regard contraception and pregnance as nothing or they had wrong knowledge about contraception and pregnance. Second, they showed contrary opinions, pros and cons, about abortion and about the fact of pregnance they showed nonchalance, fear, the feeling of being victimized, and mysterious feelings. According to their pregnance and childbirth, they all also felt guilty of the decision of adoption. Third, according to the experience after their childbirth, they did not have concrete plans after adoption. Fourth, the types of the experience of unmarried mothers could be broadly divided into voluntary choice of childbirth and involuntary choice of childbirth. The principal suggestions are as follows: first, a systematic device should be prepared to provide the juveniles with enough knowledge about the overall sexual problems such as contraception, pregnance, and abortion. Second, a compulsory cost of nursing from unmarried fathers and a right for unmarried mothers to live in a basic situation should be legally secured to help unmarried mothers support themselves.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 10대 미혼모 문제의 효과적인 해결을 위한 기초자료 축적을 위하여 미혼모 경험에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구참여자는 2008년 5월 현재 서울지역의 미혼모 보호시설에 거주하고 있는 출산 전․후의 미혼모 10명으로 하였으며, 심층면접을 통해서 질적인 자료를 얻는 사례연구의 방법을 사용하였다.
본 연구의 주요결과는 첫째, 미혼모들은 아이를 원하지 않음에도 불구하고 피임 및 임신에 대해 별다른 생각이 없거나 잘못된 지식을 갖고 있는 것이 임신 전 경험으로 나타났다. 둘째, 미혼모들은 낙태에 대해 상반된 견해(찬성 혹은 반대)를 보였으며, 임신 사실에 대해서는 무덤덤함, 두려움, 피해의식, 신비함 등의 반응을 보였다. 또 입양 결정에 대해서는 모두가 죄책감을 갖고 있는 것이 임신 및 출산 경험으로 나타났다. 셋째, 미혼모들은 입양 후 구체적인 계획을 갖지 못하고 있는 것이 출산 후 경험으로 나타났다. 넷째, 미혼모 경험에 따른 유형을 크게 자발적 출산선택형과 비자발적 출산선택형으로 나눌 수 있었다.
이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같이 제언하였다. 첫째, 청소년들에게 피임, 임신, 낙태 등 성문제 전반에 대한 충분한 지식을 제공할 수 있는 제도적 장치가 마련되어야 한다. 둘째, 미혼부의 양육비 강제부담, 미혼모의 기초생활수급권 등이 법적으로 확보되어 미혼모가 자립할 수 있도록 지원하여야 한다.
