Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of the XR-based patient classification simulation training developed by researchers with the group that conducted theoretical training. Methods: This study period is from October 1, 2024 to November 10, 2024, and is an unequal control pre-post design study to confirm the effect of XR-based patient classification simulation training on theoretical knowledge, patient classification accuracy, and patient classification performance confidence compared to the group that conducted only theoretical training. Results: The group who conducted only theoretical education showed higher results with 89.21±39.43 and the group who conducted patient classification education with the XR program showed higher results with 90.21 points±40.43 and statistically significant changes (p<.001). As a result of comparing patient classification accuracy after training, the group who conducted only theoretical education showed higher results with 78.54±23.21, and the group who conducted patient classification education with the XR program showed higher results with 98.54±38.21 and statistically significant changes (p=.021). In terms of performance confidence, the group who conducted patient classification education with the XR program showed higher results than the group who conducted theoretical education (90.12±39.12vs98.12±39.12, p=.031). Conclusion: Patient classification simulation education using the XR program contributes to enhancing theoretical knowledge of patient classification, accuracy of patient classification, and performer time because it provides visual and auditory effects that increase realism to trainees rather than theory-based education.
