현대 도예의 전시장소 선택과 일상성 회복에 관한 연구|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

일상 공간은 인간의 삶이 운용되는 현실적, 물리적, 실재적 장소다. 그중에서 ‘집’은 도자기의 실제적 존재와 쓰임을 확인할 수 있는 매우 전통적이고 중요한 공간이다. 모더니즘의 도래 이후, 일상 공간이 지닌 가치와 역할, 의미는 여성의 공간, 거주공간, 사적 공간 등으로 한정되고 축소되었다. 모더니즘의 도태 이후 첫째, 1960년대와 1970년대 미술계에는 제도적 미술에 반대해 미술관 밖으로 나가는 미술들이 등장했다. 둘째, 도예가와 이론가들 중심으로 화이트 큐브 안에서 공예의 특질과 가치를 탐구하는 데 한계가 있다는 점이 제기됨에 따라, 2000년대부터 새로운 도자와 장소의 관계를 모색하는 시도가 확대되고 있다. 일상 공간에서 공예의 본색을 탐구하는 시도는 모더니즘의 도래로 일상과 예술이 분리된 이후 간과되었던 공예의 일상성(domesticity)과 사물과 환경을 인지하는 우리의 감각을 회복시킨다. 본 연구는 2장에서 화이트 큐브의 개념과 일상 공간의 가치와 역할을 논하고, 3장에서 에드먼드 드 바알, 클레어 투미, 앤더스 루왈드 등의 해외 장소 특정적 도예 사례와 일상 공간의 전시연출로 공예의 본색을 조명 시도한 국내 전시사례를 분석모델로 삼는다. 이로써 현대 도예 전시연출 및 장소 담론의 변화를 감지하고 향후 도자와 장소 특정적 시도의 출현을 예측하는 연구 목적을 실현하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Domestic sites in our life is a realistic, physical and real place where human beings are living. It served as a traditional and public place to see the actual use of crafts. Modernists have defined our domestic site as personal, feminine and anti-modern, moving forward into the realm of home. In the late 1960s to the early 1970s, new arts appeared outside the museum in opposition to institutional arts. ceramic artists and theorists have attempted to find a new relationship between ceramics and sites as well as alternative site since the 2000s while bringing up the issue that there were limitations in revealing the characteristics and values of crafts in the white cube. The attempt to explore the essence of craft in everyday space restores our sense of awareness of the everyday nature of craft and things and the environment, which have been overlooked since the separation of daily life and art. This study shows after the separation of art and life the medium of white cubes and houses as representative one of domestic sites in chapter 2. It analyzes overseas installation such as Edmund de Waal, Claire Twomey and Anders Ruhwald and Korean exhibitions in 2000s dealing with ceramics and sites since the 2000s as the case of site-specific ceramics in contemporary ceramics in chapter 3. The study is aimed at reaching the research objective of detecting the change in the exhibitions and expressions of contemporary ceramics and predicting the emergence of new attempts of the site-specific ceramics.
