As of 2025, "gender" is widely recognized by many in South Korean society as a major social issue. Under the name of "gender conflict", gender is increasingly perceived as a form of social conflict—specifically, a social antagonism. This so-called gender conflict is commonly explained as arising from a clash between two forces: the expansion of feminist thought among women in their twenties, and the perception of "reverse discrimination" among men in their twenties. But does this prevailing understanding of "gender conflict" truly reflect social reality? This paper seeks to analyze the phenomenon referred to as "gender conflict" by examining how it is reported, framed, and communicated to the public through news articles published online by mass media outlets. Through this analysis, the study aims to clarify the process by which these discourses are shaped and socially recognized. Furthermore, by focusing on the interplay between the government, mass media, and society, this paper attempts to critically examine the phenomenon of "gender conflict" as a uniquely Korean gender structure.
