Forward Osmosis (FO) is an osmotic process that like reverse osmosis (RO), uses a semi-permeable membrane to effect separation of water from dissolved solutes. In this study, exergy analysis of simplified FO desalination plant by the use of chemical process simulation software (ASPEN PLUS). The FO system is modeled using single distillation column to separate draw solutes from the product water within the system. Thermal and electrical energy requirements of the process are calculated, as well as combined term for equivalent work.
