The Korean Language Society was an academic association based on nationalism. The Members of that Society took part in the anti-Japanese struggle in the Japanese colonial period. They were anti-Japan fighters. They sought the independence of the country through the Hangul movement. After liberation in 1945, they participated in construction works of a new country, and contributed to building a democratic country. Some of them rejected the division of the country, and wanted a unified nation-state. Six of the 33 members strongly hoped the national unification. One of the members was an extreme rightist. The majority of them(22 out of 33) were reasonable conservatives.They supported liberal democracy and capitalism, and sought peaceful reunification of nation. They contributed to make the Republic of Korea to democracy.
