The focus of this paper is a rediscovery of Augustinian tradition ofapology in post-modern and civil society. Especially, our times have thecharacteristic factor which anti-Christian movement blames corruption ofChristianity.Usually, Christians regards apology as a poor excuse or weak defensefor moral problems of church members. But Augustine did not think so.He had great pride and conviction about Christian faith and church. Hisapologetics in civitas Dei focused on the moral excellence of Christianity.Most of all, the main purpose of civitas Dei was the ethical apology forChristianity against Roman civil society which attributed the cause ofRoman crisis to Christian Church. Augustine rebuked pagan argumentscase by case, and provided alternatives of genuine happiness and moralvirtues from Christian perspectives which must be fulfilled in 'civitas dei'not in 'civitas terrena'.Now, this paper proposes a possibility of ethical approach to apologyin civitas Dei from the perspectives which has great pride and convictionson the Christianity. And this study argues the necessity of apology forChristianity which faces to Anti-Christian Movements in post-modernand civil society.
