To evaluate the clinical significance of skin test, IgE RAST to diagnose house dust mite allergy in bronchial asthmatics, skin prick test, semiquantitation of IgE RAST, and allergen bronchial provocation test were compared in 39 bronchial asthmatics and 15 patients with rhinitis. The results were as follows. L. In respiratory allergy, allergen bronchial provocation tests were all negative when the wheal diameter of skin prick test was less than 4.9mm and / or IgE RAST score was zero. 2. In bronchial asthmatics, IgE RAST scores were more than 2 and allergen hronchial provocat ion test we re positive in 96% of the patients when the wheal diameter of skin prick test was more than 10mm. 3. In allergic rhinitis, allergen bronchial provo- cation test were positive in 54 % of the patients when the wheal size of skin prick test was more than 5mm in diameter and IgE RAST score was more than 2. In conclusion there was very good correlation between skin prick test, IgE RAST score and allergen bronchial provocation test in dust mite sensitive bronchial asthrnatics.
