<토끼전·水宮歌>의 人物形象 = The Characterization in <Toggi-jun>

국문 초록 (Abstract)

Turtle(별주부) and rabbit(토끼) have antagonistic forms. Their antagonistic aims occur from restriction in their social positions. Rabbit and Turtle are not the character who can be discriminated between good and bad. We can find out this form in <Gutogisul> which is the origin story of <Toggi-jun>.
Turtle is a faithful character in his social position to care 'King of the sea', as a retainer of king. Indeed, he is a justifiable character in those days.
However rabbit doesn't have justification. Therefore rabbit is the character in the natural world differs from the turtle's artificial world.
Kim chun-chu in the <Gutogisul> has both sides of turtle's normal behavior(正道) and rabbit's trick playing(權道). The same as this, <Toggi-jun> shows two forms - choosing normal way(正道) or tricky way(權道) to solve problem - of human beings through turtle and rabbit.
