The aim of this study is to analyze whether universal design is applied in 10 SCCCs located in Namhae-gun and prepare standards for quality improvement and awareness improvement of SCCC based on user-centered universal design at the design stage of SCCC. In term of research method, first, the spatial composition of SCCCs were classified into access space, living space, and sanitary space to analyze required rooms. Second, the environmental types of universal design in SCCCs were classified into basic elements, spatial composition principle, and detailed space to analyze whether universal design is applied. Based on the analysis, the characteristics of environmental types of universal design were analyzed with percentage distribution and visualized as distribution chart. Among the analyzed items of environmental types of universal design, basic elements and detailed space were found to be above average, but spatial composition principle were found to be inadequate. As a result, the average of characteristics of environmental types of universal design was analyzed to be less than 30% in 8 SCCCs excluding Daeip SCCC and Hwaryong SCCC among 10 SCCCs. Senior citizen community centers should be planned in consideration of the use behaviors and physical conditions of the elderly with declined physical activity. Also, it is desirable to classify spaces in SCCCs in terms of safety, accessibility, accommodation, and comfort for use and apply them in space planning.
