중재 전후로 하지 근력 발현 특성(Rate of Torque Developmnt: RTD; Peak Torque: PT), 균형 능력(Timed Up and Go: TUG; Functional Reach Test/Height: FRT/Height), 악력, 고관절 가동범위 및 낙상 효능감(KFES-I) 등을 측정하여 그 변화를 분석하였다.

This study investigated the effects of loop band resistance exercise on physical function and psychological factors in older adults to present an effective fall prevention intervention. Twenty-four older adults aged 65 years and above were randomly assigned to either a loop band exercise group (LBG; n = 13) or an active control group (ACG; n = 11). The LBG performed a lower extremity resistance exercise program using loop bands at a Modified Borg Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) intensity of 6 to 7 for 12 weeks (2 sessions per week, 40 minutes per session), while the ACG maintained their regular daily activities.
Measurements were taken at baseline and post-intervention to analyze changes in lower limb force development characteristics (rate of torque development [RTD] and peak torque [PT]), balance ability (Timed Up and Go [TUG] and Functional Reach Test normalized to height [FRT/Height]), grip strength, hip range of motion, and fall efficacy (Korean Falls Efficacy Scale-International [KFES-I]). The results of the 12-week loop band exercise program are as follows. First, for lower limb force characteristics, the non-dominant leg RTD showed a significant Time × Group interaction (p < .001), with post hoc analysis revealing a significant between-group difference at post-test (p = .005). Similarly, non-dominant leg PT demonstrated a significant Time × Group interaction (p < .001), with post hoc testing indicating a significant between-group difference at post-test (p = .043).
Second, for physical function, FRT/Height exhibited a significant Time × Group interaction (p < .001), and post hoc analysis revealed a significant between-group difference at post-test (p = .038). Third, for hip joint range of motion, significant Time × Group interactions were observed for both right and left hip flexion (right: p < .001; left: p < .001), with post hoc analyses showing significant between-group differences at post-test for both sides (right: p < .001; left: p < .001). Similarly, significant Time × Group interactions were found for both right and left hip extension (right: p = .001; left: p < .001), with post hoc analyses revealing significant between-group differences at post-test (right: p = .004; left: p < .001).
The 12-week loop band exercise program significantly improved non-dominant lower limb strength, balance, grip strength, and hip range of motion. Therefore, loop band exercise may serve as an accessible, safe, and effective intervention for enhancing functional independence and preventing falls in aging societies.
