중세국어 ‘자내’에 대하여 = About the Usage of 'Janae' in the Middle Age Korean

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

‘Janae’ has been considered ‘a reflexive pronoun’ so far, but this study defines it as ‘the third person pronoun’ with the ‘reflexive, emphatic, honorific’ characteristics.
To prove this, this study expressed that we had difficulty explai ning all kinds of its usage with the existing definition as ‘a reflexive pronoun’ and needed a new approach. In other words, according to the existing view, the object of a reflexive pronoun is limited to ‘a subject of the sentence’, while ‘Janae’ refers to the objects existed in ‘discourse context’ or ‘conceptual context’ as well as a subject.
Therefore this study suggested we define ‘Janae’ as ‘the third person pronoun.’ It resulted from the fact that the grammatical category referring to all the objects existed in ‘discourse context’ or ‘conceptual context’ is ‘a pronoun.’ In this context we concluded that ‘Janae’ is ‘a person pronoun’ and then came to define it as ‘a third person pronoun’ in that its object is a third person.
