      Recently, interest in the decommissioning of nuclear power plants is increasing due tothe permanent shutdown of commercial nuclear power plants such as Wolsong Unit 1 and Kori unit1. Since there is no experience in decommissioning commercial nuclear power plants in Korea, manypending issues such as development of technology and decommissioning regulations are piled up.
      Among them, pending issues such as waste management measures, and evaluation of decommissioningcosts are classified as issues that must be urgently resolved before decommissioning proceeds. Inparticular, continuous research is required to estimate the cost of decommissioning nuclear powerplants in accordance with the social, institutional, and technical requirements. Therefore, this studyinvestigated the standard cost estimates system in other fields among the domestic construction costcalculation systems. Through this, we investigated and analyzed how the current nuclear power plantdecommissioning cost evaluation is being carried out, and suggested the direction for enacting thestandard cost estimate system for nuclear power plant decommissioning. The direction of enactmentof standard cost estimate system for nuclear power plant decommissioning suggested through thisstudy can be used to introduce standard cost estimate system for nuclear power plant decommissioningbusiness. In addition, it is expected that it can contribute to cost reduction and proper estimation ofexpected cost of nuclear power plant decommissioning in the future.
