여성 정신건강사회복지사의 직무경험

국문 초록 (Abstract)

불안정성이 증가한 현대사회에서 정신건강 문제가 중요 이슈로 떠오른 가운데, 정신건강사회복지사들의 역할이 크게 확대했다. 여성의 사회진출 증가와 맞물려 정신건강사회복지사들의 직무경험을 젠더적 시각에서 이해할 필요성 역시 대두하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 시대적 흐름에 토대를 두어 여성 정신건강사회복지사의 직무경험에 관해 질적 탐구하고자 했다. 연구참여자는 여성 정신건강사회복지사 5명이다. 1인당 4~5회기의 심층면담을 실시해 자료를 수집하였고, Giorgi(1985)의 기술적 현상학적 질적 연구방법을 활용해서 분석하였다. 연구결과, 총 5개의 본질적 주제를 발견했다. 이는 “사회의 틀 맞춰 갖추는 여성 정신건강사회복지사라는 옷”, “여성으로 감당하기 당혹스러워도 의연하게 클라이언트 응대하기”, “성별로 나뉘는 정신건강사회복지사 지위의 경계”, “여성으로서의 사생활과 정신건강 직무의 뒤엉킴”, “걸림돌 딛고 일궈내는 여성 정신건강사회복지사로서의 성장”과 같았다. 대주제는 “여성 역할 물결 따르며 전문직 사명의 파고 높이기”였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로, 여성 정신건강사회복지사를 위한 전문성 향상 방안을 포함하여 성인지적 직무상황 개선과 직장 내 양성평등 확산 등에 관해 제언했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As mental health problems have emerged as an important issue in modern society where uncertainty is increasing, the role of mental health social workers has also expanded greatly. Moreover, in line with the increase in the number of women entering the workforce, the need to examine the work experiences of female mental health social workers from a gender perspective is on the rise. Base on this trend, this study aimed to qualitatively explore the work experiences of female mental health social workers. The study participants were five female mental health social workers. Data were collected through four to five in-depth interviews per person and analyzed using Giorgis (1985) descriptive phenomenological and qualitative method. The analysis revealed five essential themes: “the facade of the female mental health social worker which is expected to suit the expectations of the society,” “being responsive to the clients without a trouble even if its embarrassing to handle as a woman,” “boundaries of the mental health social workers who are divided by gender,” “tangle of the womens privacy and mental health related jobs,” and “growth as the female mental health social workers who have overcome obstacles.” The main theme was “following the flow of women’s roles and heightening the professional mission.” Based on these research results, recommendations were made concerning the enhancement of gender sensitive job situations and the expansion of gender equality in the workplace, including the plans to improve professionalism for the female mental health social workers.
