      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The medium that dominated the society and culture of Korea in the 1960s was ‘radio’. With the introduction of PCV, a new culture, the first domestic radio ‘A-501’ was created, and Korea developed from a manufacturing country to an electronic industrial country and took lead in progress toward a new industrial country. This study examined through newspapers and records of the time that the newly-designed object ‘Goldstar radio’ was distributed nationwide to bring about lots of social, economic, political, and cultural changes as not only bridging the cultural gap in farming and fishing villages but also being used as public means that promoted and instigated the military government. In particular, the technological and cultural phenomena of social members, which are beyond the boundary of class and gender, the formation of culture of one’s own composition, and the diversification of ‘listening pattern’ were identified in detail. Therefore, this study gives an opportunity to look at the time in the 1960s from various angles by bringing the social, economic, political, and cultural phenomena and lifestyles of the time together through the ‘radio’ medium.
