다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

    〈Abstract〉
When the Pilgrim fathers settled in the New World in 1620, they brought English with
them with a variety of dialects. But English was only an auxiliary language because
many other European languages (German, Italian, Spanish, Russian etc.) coexisted in the
    New World.

English, however, has survived and become the language of the United States and
American English has practically become Lingua Franca of the World in spite of the
fact that the US Constitution contained no reference to the choice of a national language
    of America before 1996.

This paper looks into the role of language policy of the United States in the past and
into some characteristics of American English that have made it Lingua Franca of the
    world.
