Retroperitoneal hematoma due to spontaneous rupture of utero-ovarian vein in pregnancy or puerperium is seldom seen in obstetrics. The incidence reported by John W. Luce is one in deliveries. Since the disease accompanies a high matrnal mortality unless treated adequately, obstetrician should be alert to its possible occurance. Recently we have operated 3 cases with uneventful recovery. Among these 3 cases two developed retropsritoneal hamatoma in puerperium and one complicated with ruptured tubal pregnancy. Active bleeding points were not found in all cases.
