만화로 보는 해방: 1945-1950년 시사만화를 중심으로 = Liberation through cartoon: Focusing on newspaper cartoon in 1945-1950

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 해방 직후부터 한국전쟁 직전까지 신문에 게재된 한 컷 만화를 통해 해방 후의 모습을 살펴보고자 한다. 한 컷 시사만화는 당대 정치사회의 이슈와 밀접한 관련을 맺으면서 주요 사안을 과장 또는 생략 등의 방법을 통해 전달하고자 하는 바를 직접적으로 보여준다. 글과 그림이 결합한 한 컷 만화는 현재 주요한 의제가 무엇인지를 대중에게 전달하는 역할뿐만 아니라 대중의 의견을 지도층에 전달하는 여론의 역할을 하기도 한다. 이 시기 사회경제적 이슈를 다룬 한 컷 만화는 인물의 과장된 표정과 동물의 비유적 표현을 통해 복잡하게 얽힌 사회적 의미를 대중에게 친숙하게 전달함으로써 대중의 관심을 유도하고 비판적 의식을 심어준다. 정치적 이슈를 다룬 한 컷 만화는 좌우의 이념을 강조하는 것이 아닌 열강의 각축장이 된 한반도에 미·소 강대국의 입장만 있을 뿐 당사자인 조선인은 배제되었다는 것을 인물의 구도를 통해 보여준다. 해방 후 한 컷 만화는 저널리즘을 기반으로 정치사회의 특정 사건을 고도의 압축된 이미지로 전달하고 여론의 공감과 행동을 촉구하는 인쇄 미술의 역할을 충실히 했다는 점에서 유의미하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines the post-liberation period through the lens of one-cut cartoons. One-cut current affairs cartoons immediately convey the issues of the political and social climate of the time through exaggeration or omission. The one-cut cartoons dealing with economic and social issues during this period easily conveyed complex social meanings to the public through exaggerated expressions of human figures and figurative representations of animals, thus attracting public attention and instilling critical consciousness. One-cut cartoons that deal with political issues do not emphasize the ideology of the left or right. It shows that the post-liberation Korea only has the position of the USSR and excludes the Korean people as a party. Based on journalism, post-liberation one-cut cartoons convey specific events and objects in political society in highly compressed images. It is significant in that it fully fulfills the role of print art to empathize with public opinion and call for action.
