20세기 한중(韓中) 지식인들의 기행담론에 나타난 양국의 풍경과 이미지

국문 초록 (Abstract)

20세기 한국과 중국의 기행담론 속에는 양국의 국민들이 타자, 즉 한국과 중국을 바라보는 세계사적인 시선과 자기중심적인 시선이 중층적으로 담겨져 있다. 본 연구는 한중 양국의 기행담론을 통해 표출되는 한중의 다채로운 풍경과 이미지를 세밀하게 고찰함으로써, 양국의 교류에서의 문화적인 의미망과 문화적 모더니티를 살펴보고 한중 양국의 세계인식의 의미를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 일반적으로 한국과 중국의 양국 이미지는 문화 수필적 글쓰기, 사적 글쓰기, 보도적 글쓰기 등의 자유로운 형식으로 출현하는 기행담론 속에 대부분 녹아 있다. 또한 근대의 기행담론은 한 개인의 단순한 여행의 경험을 기록하는 차원을 넘어서서, 새로운 근대가 형성화되고 전개되는 과정을 일상적이고 풍경적으로 생생하게 그려내고 있다.본 연구의 핵심은 기행문을 통해 한중 양국의 20세기 지식인들이 양국을 인식하는 태도와 이를 통해 무엇을 얻고자 했는지에 대한 소박한 질문에서 출발하였다. 이런 기행담론을 살펴봄으로써 제국과 식민, 지배와 피지배, 전통과 현대, 특수와 보편의 문제에 대해서 고민하는 지식인들의 일상적인 내면을 살펴보는 하나의 단초가 될 수 있다. 이와 동시에 중국 지식인들이 기행담론을 통해 한국을 인식하는 과거적 시선과 현대적 시선의 미묘한 차이에 대한 고찰을 통해 한국을 바라보는 태도의 시기별 차이를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이런 결과를 통해 향후 한중관계의 발전적 전략을 모색하는데 있다.
본 연구에서는 먼저 왜 기행담론에 주목할 수밖에 없는지에 현대사회의 일상성과 모더니티의 시각에서 고찰하였다. 그 다음으로 두 번째로 한중 기행담론에 대해서 문헌과 자료조사를 꼼꼼하게 수행하였다. 세 번째로 한국의 기행담론에 나타난 중국의 풍경과 국가 이미지를 시기별로, 유형별로 나누어서 분석을 진행하였다. 네 번째로 중국의 기행담론에 나타난 한국의 풍경과 이미지 분석을 시기별로, 유형별로 나누어서 분석하였다. 마지막으로 21세기 시선에서 한국과 중국의 상호발전을 위해 기행담론을 통해 분석한 긍정적인 측면은 발전시키고 부정적인 측면은 해소할 수 있는 문화적인 대안을 모색하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to elaborate cultural meanings and cultural modernity through the countries' exchange, and to identify the meaning of world views of Korea and China, closely reading the colorful scenes and images in travel discourses of Korean and China. The images of contemporary Korea and China are unconstrainedly expressed in cultural essay writings, private writings, and report writings.
It can be said that there are multi layered gazes of both cosmopolitan and self centric viewpoints towards Korea and China in the 20th Century travel discourses of Korea and China. Examining travel discourses can provide quotidian inner scenery of intellects who are inclined to the questions of empire and colony, dominance and subordinance, tradition and modernism, and universality and particularity. This research could be helpful for the mutual development of Korea and China relationship.
