    After the Fukushima Nuclear Accident, the German government amended the nuclear law to shut down all nuclear power plants by 2022 and has implemented policies for the energy transition. The German’s way for nuclear exit could be paved through the 40 years sustained anti-nuclear movements, the by the movements shaped ‘Atomausstieg’ policy, and the development of renewable energy. The history of german anti-nuclear movements started with the anti-movements against nuclear power plants building by the residents who lived in the selected sites of plants. Since the middle 1970s the anti-nuclear movements had evolved into a national movement, which led to the regression of nuclear energy policy. The issues of the movements covered not only the nuclear power plant, but also the spent fuel reprocessing and the nuclear waste storage. As the result of movements, the green party could be founded and the issue “Atomausstieg” was made to the top of the political agenda. In 2000 the red green coalition reached an agreement with the energy companies to phase out nuclear energy, while they followed policy for promoting renewable energy. The german experiences have implications for our discussion about the korean way to nuclear exit.

    After the Fukushima Nuclear Accident, the German government amended the nuclear law to shut down all nuclear power plants by 2022 and has implemented policies for the energy transition.
