대전 · 충남지역 이주노동자의 사회문화적 적응전략 = 복지관 서비스 이용 사례를 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study purposes to show the way in which immigrant workers’sociocultural adaptation strategies are formed, by interviewing immigrant workers in Daejeon-Chungnam area. Their sociocultural adaptation strategies could be understood as the “adhesive sociocultural adaptation” which is the process that immigrant workers, who recognize a structure of racial/ethnic discrimination in Korean society, add the new culture and social relations with members of host society to their traditional culture and network without replacing or modifying any significant part of the old. In the process of adding the new culture and social relations, Deajeon Migration Center (DJMC) has played an important role as a provider of services supporting immigrant workers. This study is meaningful in that it provides a new perspective to understand the adaptation process of immigrant workers and in that it could present policy suggestions for social services for immigrant workers through examining the role of DMC in the process of sociocultural adaptation of immigrant workers in Daejeon-Chungnam area.
