      「경번당가」의 내용적 특성 연구 = A study on the content characteristics of Kyungbeondangga

      This paper aims to identify the content characteristics of the 14 verses of <Gyeongbeondangga>, the Sijo of Wolryeongche. <Gyeongbeondangga> has the form of a wol-ryeong body, but there are no seasonal customs or agricultural and production activities at each lunar age. Instead, the seasonal features of each month function as a poetic background corresponding to the speaker’s emotions. The work can be split into four parts: the first half, verses 1 to 4; the middle, verses 5 to 8; the latter part, verses 9 to 12; and the association of verses 13 and 14 to form an organic content relationship. In the first half, the narrator assumes a passive relationship with the lover; in the middle part, the narrator expresses lamentation and loneliness for the absence of the arbitrator. Later, in the second half of the story, the narrator demonstrates the relationship’s impermanence and shows resignation. In the association of verses, however, the narrator reflects on his passive attitude and calls for self- change.
      Based on this content analysis, this paper intends to present some hypotheses about the titles, annexes, and the author’s identity. These points have not yet been clarified due to data limitations. In this paper, <Gyeongbeondangga> is a “performance story” that uses the literary imagination of GyeongbeonHeo Cho-hee (Heo Nan-seol-heon) as a motif. She was considered to be gossip and rumor rather than an autonomous personality by the male-writers of the time. This paper checks the performative possibility of a creative act. It also demonstrates the limitaions in the conventional interpretation. It notes the works that extol the chastity of waiting and longing, affection, lamentation, and resentment when political friendship is not detected, as in the work of a woman or courtesan. Previous research which excluded Lee Jin-moon from the author candidate group for <Gyeongbeondangga> is reviewed reflectively.
      The hypotheses presented in this paper have not been verified, and they cannot be disproven until data limitations are overcome. Nevertheless, this paper meaningfully attempts to clarify the identity and literary characteristics of <Gyeongbeondangga> and presents a single reading method.
