비판으로서 에세이: 소통불가능성의 소통 = The Essay as Criticism : On the Communication of the Incommunicable

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper reconstructs Adorno's essay philosophy as a model for the communication of the incommunicable, and explains the critical forces that could be inherent to the essay's form in the reality of a 21st century capitalist society. In order to consider the possibility of communication, we must thoroughly recognize the inability to communicate in modern society. In the negative totality of capitalist society, the desire for communication tend to overlook the reality that communication functions as a tool for self-preservation. In this respect he tries to rehabilitate the subjective communication through the objective communication based on non-conceptual affinity. The form of the essay embodies the aesthetic totality (ästhetische Totalität) as a procedural unification of the subjective and objective communication. This aesthetic totality calls for a change in the distorted form of communication in the existing society, indirectly pointing to the possibility of authentic communication.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 아도르노의 에세이 철학을 소통불가능한 것의 소통을 위한 모델로 재구성하면서, 체계의 폭력을 점점 더 강고하게 관철시키는 21세기 자본주의 사회의 현실 속에서 에세이의 형식이 갖는 비판적 동력을 밝히는 것이다. 아도르노는 소통의 가능성을 말하기 위해 현대사회의 소통불가능성을 철저하게 인식해야 한다고 본다. 자본주의 사회의 부정적 총체성 속에서 소통이 자기보존을 위한 도구로 기능하는 현실을 간과한 모든 소통에의 열망은 허위적 이데올로기로 기능할 위험이 크기 때문이다. 이러한 문제의식으로부터 그는 주관적 소통(subjektive Kommunikation)과 객관적 소통(objektive K.)의 개념적 구분을 견지하면서, 비개념적 친화성에 의거한 객관적 소통을 통해 주관적 소통을 구제하고자 한다. 에세이의 형식은 주관적 소통과 객관적 소통의 과정적 통일로서 심미적 총체성(ästhetische Totalität)을 구체화한다. 심미적 총체성은 현존하는 사회의 왜곡된 의사소통 형식의 변경을 촉구하면서 무제약적인 차이의 향연을 견제하며 진정한 소통의 가능성을 간접적으로 지시한다.
