정치참여의 강도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 = 2012년 대선 캠프 활동가를 대상으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

시민의 정치참여는 참여 결정, 참여 방향, 참여 강도 등 다양한 차원을 갖고 있지만, 기존 연구는 참여결정 외에 다른 차원에 대해서는 별다른 이론적 관심을 두지 않았다. 이런 문제의식에 근거해 정치참여 강도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하기 위해 2012년 대통령 선거 당시, 문재인 캠프 활동가를 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시했다.
그 결과, 첫째, 소득이 낮을수록 캠프 활동에 적극적이었다. 그러나 캠프 활동에 더 많은 시간을 투여할 수 있었던 것이 마땅한 소득활동이 없었기 때문인지, 반대로 경제적으로 넉넉했기 때문인지는 분명치않다. 둘째, 구성원의 사회적 배경이 동질적인 사회집단에 많이 가입한 사람일수록 캠프 활동에 적극적이었다. 이는 비슷한 배경과 생각을 가진 사람들과의 대화와 교류가 자기 의견에 대한 확신을 강화했기 때문으로 분석된다. 세째, 외적 효능감이 낮을수록 캠프 활동에 적극적이었는데, 이는 이들의 체제전복적인 정치참여 성향이 합법적 권력교체가 가능한 선거라는 제도적 장 속에서 야당 후보의 캠프 활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 방식으로 표출됐기 때문으로 분석된다. 넷째, 문재인 후보와의 이념거리가 가깝다고 느낄수록 캠프 활동에 적극적이었다.
본 연구는 기존 연구의 공백으로 남아 있던 정치참여의 강도와 그 영향요인에 대한 탐색적 연구로서, 정치참여와 관련된 논의의 지평을 넓히는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To examine what affected the intensity of political participation, we conducted an online survey of activists who had worked in presidential election camp for the main opposition presidential candidate Moon Jae-in of United Democratic Party (UDP).
Findings are as follows: First, low-income activists were more active in campaign work. Given that campaign work was time-comsuming work, it was not certain whether their more free time resulted from no income activity or their economic prosperty.
Second, activists joining more associations whose members had similar sociopolitical backgrounds were more active in campaign work, which may suggest that interaction with like-minded others encourages their participation by strengthening their political views.
Third, as the external efficacy of activists became lower, the intensity of their participation was enhanced, which might suggest that in a special time like presidential election, the political energy such as political discontent could turn into active participation.
Last, activists who thought their ideological positions were more close to that of Moon Jae-in were more active in campaign work.
I think that this paper will contribute to understanding of political participation through exploratory analysis on intensity of participation, which has received only minimal attention.
