배드민턴 클럽지도자의 서번트 리더십과 변혁적 리더십이 운동지속에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of badminton club leader's servant leadership and transformational leadership on the continuation of the participation, to prevent badminton club members from leaving the club, and to encourage the continued participation of the members of the club.
This study surveyed about 400 club members registered in Badminton Association of Jeollabuk-do in 2017. Nonprobability sampling was implemented using convenience sampling method, and collection of data was implemented by using the structured questionnaire and the self-administration method, and the questionnaires were distributed and collected from December 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017. The independent variables were the servant leadership, consisted of the subfactors of vision, emotional healing, community formation, support for growth, and stewardship; and the transformational leadership, consisted of the subfactors of charismatic, individual care, and intellectual stimulation. The dependent variable was the participation continuation factor, consisted of of the subfactors of tendency factor, possibility factor, and reinforcement factor. Respondents answered to each question using a five point Likert scale. Validity analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, statistical significance test (t-test, F-test), and regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0.
As a result of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:
First, as a result of multiple regression analysis on the influence of servant leadership on the continuation of participation, it was found that the subfactors of servant leadership - vision presentation, emotional healing, and support for growth, positively influenced individual factors, while the spirit of community formation and stewardship had no influence. The subfactor of servant leadership - vision presentation, emotional healing, community formation and stewardship, positively influenced individual factors, while support for growth had no influence. All subfactors of servant leadership - vision presentation, emotional healing, community formation, support for growth, stewardship, positively influenced the subfactors of the continuation of participation - tendency factor and reinforcement factor.
Second, as a result of multiple regression analysis on the effect of transformational leadership on the continuation of participation, subfactors of transformational leadership - individual care and intellectual stimulation positively influenced the subfactors of continuation of participation - individual factors, while Charisma had little effect, and lower-level factor of transformational leadership - charismatic and intellectual stimulation, positively influenced the subfactor of participation continuation - possibility factor, while individual care had no effect, and the lower-level factor of transformational leadership - individual care, positively influenced subfactors of tendency and intensification factors, and charismatic and intellectual stimulation had no effect.
In conclusion, leadership of the leader should perform a comprehensive role as a team volunteer, a role divider, a team conflict resolver, and a person in charge who can provide problem solving methods. Leader's leadership behavior type not only determines club’s atmosphere and affects the relations between the club members, but also becomes an important factor that promotes the continuation of participation, satisfaction, and the competitiveness of the games. If leadership is demonstrated by being a leader who can communicate and share, rather than merely a result-oriented leader, it will be able to induce the continuation of participation of the members.
Today, the social value of sporting activities is increasing, and as a result of social needs, the number of badminton clubs as part of leisure time activity has surged. As the number of clubs grows, it became possible for club members to move to another club of preference. On the operational perspective, if the club does not have a continuous participation of the members, it could lead to the dissolution of the organization. This study on servant leadership and transformational leadership as a way to encourage the participation of the club members, shows the significance of leadership types of badminton club leaders. From this perspective, if badminton club leaders demonstrate leadership behavior according to the current situation and trends, they will have a positive impact on the maintenance of clubs by encouraging the continued participation of the club members.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 배드민턴 클럽지도자의 서번트 리더십과 변혁적 리더십이 운동지속에 미치는 영향을 규명하고, 배드민턴 클럽 동호인들의 클럽 이탈을 방지하고 동호인들의 운동지속을 유도하는 데 있다.
본 연구는 2017년 전라북도 배드민턴협회에 등록된 클럽 동호인 약 400명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 비확률 표집 방법인 편의표본추출법을 실시하였고, 자료 수집은 구조화된 설문지를 자기기입식(Self-Administration Method)으로 실시하고, 설문지는 2016년 12월 1일부터 2017년 1월 31일에 걸쳐 직접 배포·회수하였다. 설문지 구성은 독립변수로 서번트 리더십은 비전제시, 감정적 치유, 공동체형성, 성장지원, 청지기정신으로 구성하였고, 변혁적 리더십은 카리스마적, 개별적 배려, 지적자극으로 구성하였으며, 종속변수로 운동지속은 개인적 요인, 경향성요인, 가능성요인, 강화성요인으로 구성하였다. 응답자들은 각 문항에 대하여 5점 리커트 척도를 이용하여 응답하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 23.0을 이용하여 타당도 분석, 신뢰도 분석, 빈도 분석, 차이검증(t-test, F-검증), 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 이러한 연구절차를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다.
첫째, 서번트 리더십이 운동지속에 미치는 영향에 대하여 다중 회귀 분석을 실시한 결과 서번트 리더십의 하위요인인 비전제시, 감정적 치유, 성장지원이 운동지속의 하위요인인 개인적 요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 공동체형성, 청지기정신은 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며, 서번트 리더십의 하위요인인 비전제시, 감정적 치유, 공동체형성, 청지기정신은 운동지속의 하위요인인 가능성요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 성장지원은 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났고, 서번트 리더십의 하위요인인 비전제시, 감정적 치유, 공동체형성, 성장지원, 청지기정신 모든 하위요인은 운동지속의 하위요인인 경향성요인과 강화성요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 변혁적 리더십이 운동지속에 미치는 영향에 대하여 다중 회귀 분석을 실시한 결과 변혁적 리더십의 하위요인인 개별적 배려와 지적자극은 운동지속의 하위요인인 개인적 요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 카리스마적은 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났고, 변혁적 리더십의 하위요인인 카리스마적, 지적자극은 운동지속의 하위요인인 가능성요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 개별적 배려는 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났고, 변혁적 리더십의 하위요인인 개별적 배려는 운동지속의 하위요인인 경향성요인과 강화성요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 카리스마적, 지적자극은 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.
결론적으로 지도자의 리더십은 팀의 지원자로서, 역할의 분할자로서, 팀 내 갈등의 해결자로서, 문제해결 방법의 모델을 제시해주는 역할의 담당자로서 포괄적인 역할을 동시에 수행해야 한다. 지도자의 리더십행동유형은 클럽 분위기를 결정하고 클럽 구성원의 인간관계에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 동호인의 운동지속과 더불어 만족도와 경기력을 높이는 중요한 요인이라고 판단된다. 단순히 결과를 지향하는 지도자가 아닌 소통하고 공유할 수 있는 지도자가 됨으로써 리더십을 발휘한다면 동호인들의 운동지속을 유도할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
오늘날 스포츠 활동에 대한 사회적 가치가 증가되고 있고 사회적 요구에 발맞춰 여가활동의 일환으로 생활체육 배드민턴 클럽이 급증하였다. 클럽이 많아짐에 따라서 동호인들은 각자가 선호하는 클럽으로의 이동이 가능해졌다. 클럽의 운영에서 있어서 동호인들의 지속적인 운동이 이루어지지 않는다면 조직의 해체로 이어질 수 있다. 본 연구는 동호인들의 운동지속을 유도할 수 있는 방법으로 서번트 리더십, 변혁적 리더십에 관한 연구로써 배드민턴 클럽지도자의 리더십행동유형의 유의미함을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 배드민턴 클럽지도자가 시대적 상황과 추세의 흐름에 따라서 리더십행동을 발휘한다면 동호인들의 운동지속을 유도하여 클럽의 유지에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다.
