일제하 기독교 신여성의 결혼담론

This paper reexamines the marriage discourses produced in the Korean protestantism during the Japanese colonial period, and reconstructs the life of protestant women by the lens of marriage. Those New Women appeared as a icon of age had a close relationship with protestantism. At that period protestantism contributed to the emergence of New Women, and they achieved the feminist consciousness through protestantism. But, there was some conflicts between them as to the problem of sexuality, love, and marriage. Protestant New Women resisted the patriarchal marriage system which was supported by protestant churches. This article focused on the lifes of three New Women, such as Kim Hwal-lan, Pak In-Duk, and Na He-suk.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 일제하 한국기독교에서 생산된 혼인담론을 검토하고, 그 담론과 갈등하면서 때로는 저항하고 때로는 포획당하면서 시대의 아이콘으로 등장한 기독교신여성들의 삶을 혼인이라는 프리즘으로 재구성하는 것이 목적이다. 이 시대의 아이콘으로 등장한 신여성은 기독교와 긴밀한 연관을 맺고 있었다. 기독교는 교육을 통해 신여성의 등장을 도왔고 신여성은 기독교 신앙을 통해 여성주체의식을 함양했다. 그러나 성과 사랑 그리고 결혼 문제를 둘러싸고 양자는 갈등 관계에 놓이기도 하였다. 기독교의 뿌리깊은 가부장성과 대립한 기독교신여성들은 가부장적 결혼제도에 포획되지 않는 방식으로 저항의 삶을 살았다. 그리하여 이 연구에서는 기독교 신여성중에서 독신여성의 길을 선택한 김활란, 결혼과 이혼을 주체적으로 결정한 박인덕, 가부장적 윤리의 경계를 넘나든 나혜석이라는 세 기독교신여성의 삶의 궤적을 추적하는 방식으로 이들이 가부장주의에 저항하면서 동시에 포획당하는 지점들을 검토하였다.
