The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of hotel employees` degree of friendship at the workplace on organizational effectiveness such as job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention. Following literature review, the respective friendship among supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were hypothesized to have positive or negative influence on their attitude toward organizations. In order to verify the hypotheses, the data collected from hotel employees were empirically analyzed by using SPSS 20.0. The key findings are as follows: First, the friendship with supervisors has solely positive relations on job satisfaction of hotel employees. This result implies that the relations with supervisors are more important than those with coworkers or subordinates in terms of job satisfaction. Second, the friendship with supervisors and coworkers has positive impact on organizational commitment. This result implies that good relationship between members in the workplace can increase positive attitudes such as commitment or dedication toward organizations. Third, the friendship with supervisors and coworkers has negative influence on turnover intention. These findings support a study that workplace friendship between employees can lead to an increase in job satisfaction, organizational commitment, job involvement, longevity on the job, social support, communication, and so on Synder & Smith(1986). Finally, the results of this research show that building and sustaining of close friendship between employees in the workplace, especially, for the emotional workers such as hotel employees, is of paramount importance in order to increase organizational performance and positive work attitudes toward organizations.
