For this study, 20 elementary schools in Busan are selected as target areas and a questionnaire survey is executed to 20 music class teachers and 400 students to join music clubs in those elementary schools. Results of this study are as follows.
First, there are many music clubs in those elementary schools: clubs to chorus, to play the recorder, to play instrument, to play chime, to play nonverbal performance and to sing folk songs. Lots of students are allowed to join these music clubs and teachers and students prefer joining the music clubs on a regular day. they also have burden to host a music concert at least once a year.
Second, music class teachers usually prepare a guide plan, using various music materials and students are satisfied with the class contents which the teachers arranged in advance for the class. 65% of teachers who joined the questionnaire answered that they are confident with their own teaching methods, having difficulty in guiding students according to their abilities and encouraging their leadership by spending private expense and heavy work load in schools are sometimes burden for teachers to manage music classes.
Third, instructors and students have in common with a following opinion: music activities are helpful to improve music aptitude and grow up a whole person.
At last, teachers and students have positive interests in music classes and they do not show intense satisfaction with preparing the music class. They also think that the music class is necessary as a school activity and improving teachers guide ability and proper students are also needed to revitalize the class activities.
Therefore. it is necessary to consider students' various opinions, to increase diverse teaching materials and to offer instructors better training opportunities.
It is also desirable to control between instructor's work load and the number of students for good music activities, so it is necessary to reflect sustainable supporting program.
