다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is on the naming base of marine life words being used in fishing villages along the southern coast by way of site investigation at Samdong-myeon of Namhaegun, Yokji-do of Tongyeong-si and Songji-myeon of Haenam-gun.
The naming base of marine life words is in variety of forms linked to the characteristics of marine life such as [size], [color], [shape], [touch], [sound], [gender], [taste/quality], [catching timing], [habit], [habitat], [cognition], [catching method], [use], [processing method] and [complex base].
The naming base can be the characteristics related to marine life or it can reflect external elements related to marine life. Among the various forms in the naming base, [size], [color], [shape], [touch], [sound], [gender], [taste/quality], [habit] and [habitat] are internal matters of marine life; while [catching timing], [cognition], [catching method], [use], [processing method] are related to external matters of marine life.
