예용해 선생의 박물관과 문화정책에 대한 기여 = Ye Yong-hae’s contributions to the development of museums and cultural policies

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 예용해 선생이 박물관과 문화정책에 기여한 부분을 추적하고 평가하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 그의 폭넓고 다양한 활동과 노력을 검토고자 한다.




이러한 연구는 국립민속박물관처럼 1950년 12월 국립민족박물관이 국립박물관 남산분관으로 통합되어 역사 속으로 사라졌던 험난한 역사를 가져 역사기록물이 상대적으로 덜 남아 있는 경우에 더 필요하다. 이 논문은 국립민속박물관의 발전 과정에서 보이지 않는 노력을 하고 기여한 인물의 생애와 활동을 추적하여 ‘방치된 기억’을 찾아내 ‘사라지는 기억을 붙잡고 기록’하여 ‘기억을 역사로’ 만드는 노력의 하나이다.




예용해 선생은 조선시대 마지막 장인의 기록자, ‘인간문화재’ 산파, 국립민속박물관의 후원자, 전통문화의 중요성을 알리는 민속언론인으로서 기억될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis aims to trace and evaluate Ye Yonghae’s contributions not only to museum development but also to the development in the heritage policies and cultural policies. To do so his diverse wide-spectrum activities and efforts have been examined.




This kind of research is essentially needed in cases where the officially known written evidence is relatively rare like the National Folk Museum of Korea, which inherits the harsh and discontinued history of the National Museum of Ethnology, its predecessor after it was absorbed into the Namsan Branch of the National Museum of Korea in December, 1950. This thesis is a kind of effort to revive the history of the National Folk Museum of Korea, by uncovering forgotten memories of the figure who made all-out efforts and significant invisible contributions to the development of the National Folk Museum of Korea. So this thesis is designed to transform unknown memories into its history.




Ye Yonghae has been evaluated and remembered forever as a field researcher of the last folk craftsmen of the Joseon Kingdom, the originator of the Human Cultural Asset an advocare for the National Folk Museum, a journalist of Korean traditional folk culture.
