고전소설의 주인공3 19세기 남성 주체의 곤경과 환멸 -<이춘풍전>의 공간가 인물 구도- = Distress and Disillusion in 19 th Century A Study on the Space and Characters of Yichunpungjeon

In this study, I focused on the relationship between the space and characters of Yichunpungieon(李春風傳) Which has been generally regarded as the latest old novel in Chosun Dynasty. Although this novel has been studied in the early stage, it has only prompted scholars to develop a limited subject. That was on the characters, especially Chunpung`s wife who was thought as the symbol of modernity. In this paper, I seriously considered the relationship between the space and characters, instead of the connection with modernity and the dominant position of Chunpung`s wife. The most interesting thing of Yinchunpungjeon, I think, is two cities of Hanyang and Pyungyang are deeply connected with two women, Chunpung`s wife and Kisaeng(妓生) Chuwol(秋月) who each symbolize the present and the past. For that reason. A forward and backward journey between Hanyang and Pyungyang of Chunpung is understood as not only the actual travel but also wandering and confusion between the value of the present and the past. In Geusa which has thought by fatal attraction of Kisaeng(妓生) Uiyang(의양) and squandered every penny of the legacy from his parents. But Uiyang also extended a helping hand to him. Unlike Yichunpungjeon, the fall and redemption of Moosuk origianated from the same person, Uiyang. The wandering of Chunpung between Hangyang and Pyungyang, and the separation of destroyer and savior were represented the confusion of male subjects in 19th century. And to conclude, I pointed that this text revealed the reality of 19th century reflected the distress and disillusion originated from the difference in values.
