精神醫學 臨床實習教育이 精神疾密에 대한 態度에 미치는 影響 = The Effect of Psychiatric Clerkship on the Attitude toward Mental Illness

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of psychiatric clerkship at the Seoul National
University on the medical students’ attitudes toward mental illness. For this study, 96 third —
year medical students who took psychiatric clerkship between March 1985 and July 1985 were
sleeted and were compared the results with 66 subjects who didn’t take clerkship during this
period. The author interviewed them with pre - arranged questionnaire at the beginning and at
the end of 4 - week - long clerkship. Two result categories were found :
1) Statistically significant attitude changes were noted between preclerkship and postclerkship
state in the following 2 aspects : concepts of psychotic patients and concepts of neurotic patients.
2) Statistically significant attitude changes were not noted in the following 7 aspects : 2questions
of negative preconceptions of mental illness, attitude toward prognosis of mental illness, attitude toward prognosis of hospital patients, attitude toward treatment in a mental hospital compared to home care, attitude toward primary function of a mental hospital and attitude toward open - door system.
While considering the results, the authors found several problems in the current states of psychiatric
clerkship in the Seoul National University and proposed some ideas for the purpose of improving the psychiatric clerkship.
