<이춘풍전>의 남성과 여성 = The man and woman of Lee Chun Pung Joen

This paper studies the situation of reorganized relationship between man and woman based on the concern about the man who dominated that age through Lee Chun Pung Joen Lee Chun Pung Joen was written at the chaotic time that the old ideology was being replaced by the new. Because this story reported the reality of man and woman who lived together in that world, we can find the new meanings of Lee Chun Pung Joen by researching the man and woman character of that transitional epoch. The wife of Lee chun pung who was esteemed to be the modem woman on other studies is just the faithful helper of his husband for she couldn`t be beyond the gender role of that age. Chun Pung is not specific but typical character who represented the middle class of the rising city. The critic about Chun Pung through all story is the request for him to be the man with moral of new age and be the practical householder for the patriarchy society. At the end of the story Mr. and Mrs Lee made a steady home; the center of the home is Chun pung. After all, Chun Pung and his wife adjusted themselves to the new patriarchy society that urged the rational authority of the man.
